3 Great Exercises

Today I’m going to share with you my three favorite ways to exercise. The best part is, once you are doing these three, you’re ready for a triathlon!

Exercise vs. Being Active:
-Studies performed in “The Blue Zone” book found that people who live a long and healthy life are very active throughout their lives.
-When it comes to being healthy, exercise is great, but it is most important to stay active.

Three of the Best Ways to Get Active:
-Triathlons (running, biking, swimming) are the #1 fastest-growing olympic sport right now.

1. Swimming:
-Health Benefits of Swimming:
a. Of all exercise, swimming may be the most beneficial.
b. Swimming strengthens the cardiovascular system and builds muscle.
-Downside of Swimming: Some people are afraid of swimming because they do not have much experience.
Solution: If you do not have much experience swimming, try taking a few lessons and that will help tremendously.

2. Cycling:
-Health Benefits of Cycling:
a. Cycling is great for the cardiovascular system.
b. Cycling is great for building core muscles.
c. Cycling is easy on the joints.
-Downside of Cycling: Some people think that cycling can be expensive
-Solution: Start slow with a simple bike or join a cycling group.

3. Running:
-Health Benefits of Running:
a. People have been running for thousands of years.
b. Running has been shown to help build strong bones.
c. Running helps strengthen the cardiovascular system.
d. Running strengthens the leg and core muscles.
-Downside of Running: Running can be hard on the joints.
-Solution: Get a good pair of shoes and run with proper technique on your forefoot.
Try running on softer surfaces, such as grass, a track, or on a trail.

Conclusion:
-Get active and start swimming, cycling, and running.
-Most importantly, do what you love to do.
-Remember that it’s not just about exercise, but about being active.

Action Steps:
-Find a type of activity that you love to do and be sure to do it on a weekly basis!
