10 Power Foods That Lower Blood Pressure Naturally

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is unfortunately a common problem throughout the U.S. It is a very serious condition that, if untreated, can lead to heart attacks, kidney failure and strokes. A blood pressure reading is considered high if it goes over 140/90. There are many factors that can contribute to high blood pressure, including: obesity, excessive drinking, stress, birth control pills, kidney disease, adrenal disease and genetic factors. While there are many prescription drugs that help to lower blood pressure, it can also be treated with all-natural remedies. Today’s video will discuss ten home remedies to lower blood pressure.

1. Watermelon Seeds Watermelon seeds contain cucurbocitrin, which is a compound that helps to widen blood capillaries and improve kidney function. In 2010, Florida State conducted a study that showed watermelon can help to lower blood pressure readings. To use, grind equal amounts of dried watermelon seeds and poppy seeds. Use one teaspoon of the mixture in the morning, on an empty stomach, and again the evening, before bed. Additionally, add two teaspoons of gently crushed, dried watermelon seeds to one cup of boiled water. Steep it for about an hour and then drain. Use four teaspoons of this water regularly throughout the day. 2. Lemons Lemons remove the rigid nature of the blood vessels and leave them soft and flexible.

This, in turn, lowers the blood pressure level. Consuming lemon juice regularly also lowers the change of heart failure because of the high levels of Vitamin C. 3. Bananas Bananas can help to control blood pressure, when consumed on a regular basis. This is because of the high levels of potassium in the bananas that help to lessen the effects of sodium on the body. Consume one or two bananas each day. Dried apricots, raisins, orange juice, zucchini, spinach, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes and winter squash are all also beneficial. 4. Garlic Raw and cooked garlic can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the body’s production of nitric oxide and hydrogen sulphide. Consume one or two crushed garlic cloves per day. The act of crushing garlic cloves creates hydrogen sulphide, which improves blood flow and removes the pressure that is on the heart. Taking the garlic clove with milk may make it more pleasant. Alternatively, mix five or six drops of garlic juice in four teaspoons of water and consume twice per day. 5. Coconut Water To those with high blood pressure, it is especially important to keep hydrated. It is recommended that they consume eight to ten glasses each day.

Coconut water is helpful in lowering blood pressure. A study was published in the West Indian Medical Journal in 2005 that found that coconut water can help to lower blood pressure. 6. Celery Celery contains chemicals that help to control blood pressure. They relax the muscles in and around the heart and can allow the blood to flow more efficiently. Celery also helps to reduce stress hormones, which lowers blood pressure. Consume one stalk of celery with one glass of water each day. 7. Onion Juice Onions contain antioxidants that lower blood pressure. Simply consume one medium-sized raw onion per day. Alternatively, you can mix ½ teaspoon of onion juice with ½ teaspoon of honey and consume twice per day for one to two weeks. 8. Cayenne Pepper Cayenne pepper prevents platelets from sticking together and therefore, allows blood to flow more efficiently. Simply add cayenne pepper to fruit or vegetable salads, as well as in the dishes that you cook. A little cayenne pepper goes a long way, so just a pinch will do. 9. Fenugreek Seeds Fenugreek seeds contain potassium and fiber that helps to control blood pressure. To use, boil one or two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in water for about two minutes and then strain.

Place the seeds into a blender and mix into a paste. Consume the paste twice a day, once in the morning on an empty stomach and once in the evening. Use this remedy for two to three months for best results. 10. Honey Honey calms the blood vessels in the body and lowers blood pressure. Simply consume two teaspoons of honey on an empty stomach each morning. Also, you can mix one teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of ginger juice and two teaspoons of cumin seed powder.

Consume this twice each day for best results. Also, mixing basil juice and honey in equal amounts and consuming on an empty stomach each day is effective.
