There are 3 reasons why they feel sick on a ketogenic diet. This could be called the keto flu.
1. Too much fat too quickly – if your gallbladder is not present or you do not have enough bile, and you add too many fats, this will overload the liver and gallbladder and create the feeling of nausea, feeling of the flu, bloating, right shoulder pain – esp. around the upper right trap, scapula or rhomboid muscle. For this I would recommend a simple solution, cut down the fats a bit – add Gallbladder Formula:

2. The ketogenic diet does deplete both electrolytes and B-vitamins. This alone can create fatigue, tiredness and by simply adding back in B-vitamins from nutritional yeast or some other natural source and electrolytes (esp. potassium), you can quickly resolve this. Your running the body now on a different cellular machine, which require slightly different nutrients.

3. The 3rd reason is that you are stuck in "transition phase". If you have been running your body on sugar your whole life and not you are switching to fat burning, you have to adapt. This requires new enzymes, etc. There is 2 ways you can do this – you can go cold turkey and just do it hard core OR you can do in more gradually. This would be mean avoiding sugar, grains, refined foods BUT keep in fruit, quinoa, yams or sweet potato – do this for a while, then over time you can take away the fruit.
